Dr. Pieter Ernst who immigrated to South Africa from the Netherlands founded Marang House in 1998.

A long-standing physician in Northcliff, Dr Ernst realized that for children with chronic conditions requiring long-term care, institutions such as government hospitals are not able to supply the ideal recovery environment that a stable home can. Tragically, Dr. Ernst was murdered in 2005; however, his dream of Marang House is still carried on by a dedicated staff and Board

of Directors.
